Located in the heart of the UConn campus, the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History is an important part of the University's broad educational vision--a vision focused not only on passing knowledge to future generations, but on applying this knowledge to solve problems and improve the quality of people's lives. The Museum offers a unique venue to share UConn's world-class scholarship directly with students and the broader general public. We strive to give people of all ages new types of learning experiences and interpret the scholarship generated here on campus in ways that make it relevant and useful to their own lives.

Established in 1985 by an act of the Connecticut State Legislature, the Museum occupied several temporary locations on campus until it found a permanent home in the old Apple Sales Building on Hillside Road in 2000. We reopened with a handful of administrative offices and a small exhibit area on the building’s first floor and immediately began planning further expansion. In the Spring of 2007 we celebrated the completion of Phase II renovations, opening our first dedicated exhibit and programming spaces in the Museum's 22-year history.

Today we continue to look toward the future. Our goal for the Phase III expansion is to develop the building's third floor and create much needed collections and laboratory space for our ever-expanding collections. As always, we continue to appreciate your ongoing support of the Museum and Archaeology Center and our service on the UConn campus.
